Jason Matyi, a Tool and Die Maker in Oldcastle, has lived in Essex County his entire life. He currently lives in Colchester South with his wife and two boys. Jason believes in fiscal responsibility, social justice and sustainability and is proud to represent the riding of Essex as a Green Party shadow cabinet critic.
Growing up blocks away from a correctional institution, Jason understands how proper planning and sustainable thinking are needed in future development to ensure safe and prosperous communities.
At St. Clair College, Jason completed the apprenticeship program to become a Tool & Die Maker. He has worked in this profession for 17 years. Jason has also studied at The Renewable Energy Technology Centre, where he learned about Solar PV and thermal systems, as well as the micro-fit programs offered in Ontario. Providing a strong voice for his rural constituency, Jason believes that energy production needs to be decentralized and to be community-based, with a focus on local ownership, and local decision-making.
