James Duncan
James Duncan is proud to be the Green Party of Ontario Candidate for the riding of Brampton - Springdale.
James first became active in politics while barely a teenager, volunteering on the Provincial Campaigns of MPP Robert Elgie, putting up lawn signs and handing out flyers and campaign literature in the early 80s. He was also involved in student Politics and student media life during High School.
As an adult, James is now a successful Digital Media Developer and Consultant. He has consulted for companies based in both Toronto and New York City building Internet based projects, as well as having lived in both cities. For over 14 years now, James has helped Digital Media Advertising Agencies, traditional Media entities such as TimeWarner and Disney and consulted on brands such as Ikea and Scholastic. He has won industry awards and recognition for his work on projects for The New York Times and JetBlue Airlines.
As a result of the attacks on 9/11 on his adopted home of New York, James was thrust back into political life through the rapid rise of the Howard Dean 2004 Presidential Campaign, where James was active in the Campaign’s Queens, NY chapter. In 2008, he continued his political life being involved in the Barack Obama Presidential Campaign and with local Candidates in North Carolina. The 2004 Dean Campaign was fully an Internet based effort and it now serves as a model for many modern day Campaigning techniques.
Passionate about renewable energy and sustainable living, upon his return to Toronto, James looked to Green Party of Ontario as a perfect fit and he is excited to give voters the chance to vote for the values that the Party represents. His interest in Renewable Energy lead him to complete the Sustainable Energy Conversion and Storage Certificate program as offered by Stanford University in 2010 and he brings that knowledge to his Campaign. He also believes Ontario has the potential to be a leader in the 21st century, by focusing on Jobs and Health Care and feels that voting Green is the best way to secure a bold vision for all in Ontario.
Also a recognized musician, James has performed as a number of prominent venues, including the MOMA’s PS1, Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park, concert venues such as Joe’s Pub and The Bowery Ballroom, all in New York City and appeared on critically acclaimed records and cds.
