Shawn Ali

Shawn Ali, a store manager at Toys R Us Canada and has been with the company for five years, has lived in Beaches-East York for most of his life. He has had the privilege to experience the richness and diversity of his community first hand, and as it has grown he has seen it become even richer and more diverse. At the core of his community are the hard-working people who call it home, and Shawn is proud to work with them and to call them friends and neighbors.

Shawn is currently the management chair of his store’s health and safety committee. He is also a part of his store’s environmental program, which includes the use and distribution of green cleaning products throughout the store. In his spare time, Shawn volunteers with “Because I’m a Girl”, a charity that works to empower girls worldwide.

Shawn is dedicated to improving healthcare by making health promotion and illness prevention a top priority, and by re-prioritizing funding to support health care professionals in community care clinics. Shawn pledges to fight for good jobs and a fiscally responsible government.

Shawn has coached a baseball league in East York and has a passion for art and art history. He is very close to his niece and she the reason he has become involved with the Green Party of Ontario.

Shawn firmly believes that we are judged on what we leave behind, our footprint on the planet and our impact on one another. For this reason, Shawn is compelled to act, compelled to run as Green Party candidate for Beaches-East York.
