J.D. McGuire
J.D. McGuire, an IT professional, has called Kitchener-Waterloo home for the last ten years. He has held an interest in politics since he was 14, when he would come home from school and watch the Ontario Legislature's Question Period with his dad. This initial interest was based on watching a diverse group of people passionately defend their vision for the future of the province.
J.D. attended Conestoga College for Computer Programming, which began a winding career path that included stops as a “sandwich artist”, an electronics salesman, an assistant restaurant manager, and finally an IT professional. J.D. continues to enjoy his job at a local technology company.
J.D. is passionate about delivering government that works for people. His top priority as MPP would be to remove barriers that prevent citizens from being heard and ensure that public officials are held to the highest standards. J.D. joined the Green Party of Ontario (GPO) in 2011, strongly believing that the GPO's culture and policies meshed perfectly with his goals, and supported his desire to be a good MPP.
Ensuring Ontarians have good jobs and good government is vitally important to the future of the province and J.D. is certain the Green Party has the best plan -- and more importantly, the best people -- to achieve those goals. J.D. very much looks forward to representing the people of Kitchener-Waterloo at Queen's Park.
J.D. resides in Northeast Waterloo with his wonderful wife Leah and awesome rabbit Norman. J.D. plays recreational softball in the summer and ball hockey in the winter. A short list of his other hobbies include golf, live theatre, traveling, watching competition-based reality shows, and of course, burying his face in his BlackBerry to catch up on all the political goings-on of the day.
