Patrick East grew up in Northern Ontario, which provided him with a strong awareness of the natural environment. Camping, hunting, hiking and fishing are popular pastimes to any Northerner, and he sees it as his mandate to protect the things that he and his peers hold most dear.

Patrick East grew up in Northern Ontario, which provided him with a strong awareness of the natural environment. Camping, hunting, hiking and fishing are popular pastimes to any Northerner, and he sees it as his mandate to protect the things that he and his peers hold most dear.

Patrick’s parents were both born in Quebec, and his heritage led to him learning French and deciding to study French at the University of Toronto. After five years at the U of T, he explored the world, travelling to Eastern and Western Europe, the United States, the Caribbean and Brazil, where he had the opportunity to learn Portuguese. He currently works as a caregiver for a local quadriplegic woman.

As a member of the Ontario Métis Aboriginal Association, Patrick looks forward to tackling some problems facing Ontario’s aboriginal communities. He is also concerned about problems in cities, especially gangs and the ownership of hand pistols. He believes we should strengthen laws against corporations that destroy the environment.
