Russ Aegard was born and raised in Northwestern Ontario. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education, both from Lakehead University. He lives in South Gillies with his wife, Tamara, and his daughter, Lara. He has a small chicken farm and a Labrador Retriever kennel. Tamara is a vendor at the local farmer’s market.

Russ has worked in a variety of fields, from customer service to education. For the last 10 years, he has been working with children as a counsellor and educator, most recently as a teacher with the Lakehead District School Board. He is especially interested in health and education issues, as they relate to the environment. As a teacher, he would like to see a shift towards healthy living in the schools. He also supports electoral reform because he believes our archaic first-past-the-post voting system is failing most of the population.

Russ is active in his community, coaching sports and volunteering with children from the local Children’s Aid Society. He also plays baseball and hockey to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
