Judy Smith Torrie

Educated to the post-graduate level in environmental studies and natural resource management from the University of Waterloo, Judy Smith Torrie has worked as an environmental consultant and managed a professional consultancy for more than 25 years.
Judy has been a Director of the Ontario Development Corporation and a member of the Joint State of the Environment Advisory Committee of Environment Canada/Statistics Canada that produced the first complete State of the Environment Report for Canada. She participated in the Special Educational Advisory Committee of the former Carleton Board of Education. She currently serves as chair of the Environmental Advisory Committee for the Town of Cobourg, and is active on the Mzuzu HIV/Aids Orphans Committee and Chancel Guild of her church.
Judy and husband Ralph Torrie have two children, Alison and Jake, currently in university. Ralph grew up in Cobourg, and the family moved back to Cobourg from Ottawa several years ago to care for an elderly relative. Judy loves walking her dog and participating in community theatre.
