Judy was a Director of the Ontario International Corporation and served on the Joint State of the Environment Advisory Committee of Environment Canada/Stats Canada that produced the first complete State of the Environment Report for Canada. She is active on special education, international development, and local environmental committees, and currently serves as Chair of the Cobourg Environmental Advisory Committee.

Judy was the provincial Green Party candidate for Northumberland/Quinte West in the 2007 election in which she garnered 10.2% of the vote, more than tripling the vote in the 2004 election. She won the local student vote.

“The GPO has the best platform to build a sustainable society for future generations. I understand the connections between environmental sustainability, economic development, health and education, and I will bring that knowledge to bear on issues to increase the visibility and funding for the GPO between elections. I am aware of the increasing disparity in our society and the suffering it causes. I want to address poverty and disparity with greener jobs and policies that improve the condition of all Ontarians.”

Judy lives in Cobourg with her husband and partner, Ralph Torrie. She has two children, Alison and Jake, both currently enrolled in university.
