Jeanie Warnock

18.09.2007 - 13:10
Jeanie Warnock has lived in rural Eastern Ontario for the last 20 years, and currently represents Eastern Ontario on the GPO leadership team. Jeanie holds a PhD in English literature, teaches at the University of Ottawa and works as an editor for Doris Lessing Studies.
Jeanie comes from a long line of farmers: her grandfather taught high school agriculture and led the 4H, while her father held two jobs, teaching civil engineering and raising Angus cows. One of 10 children, she has worked extensively on her family’s farm, has been training ponies and horses since childhood and has shown competitively. She still lives on a farm, where she works as a riding instructor and organic gardener.
Jeanie hopes to bring honesty and integrity to the campaign and to offer the voters of Leeds-Grenville a chance to demonstrate their commitment to environmental issues. She has been a volunteer at the Ottawa Humane Society educational program for children and with Big Brothers and Sisters, and has volunteered on a summer program teaching English to recent youth immigrants. Her particular interest lies in exploring humanity’s psychological relationship with the environment and the natural world.
