Born in Germany, Bridget grew up on a chemical-free farm near Lindsay, Ont. She graduated from Trent University with an Honours degree in Philosophy and English Literature and continued her studies in Australia, where she became an adult educator. While in Australia, she worked for an NGO assisting the long-term unemployed, street kids, immigrants and mothers returning to the work force. Bridget worked as the New South Wales training co-ordinator for a large insurance company and taught at a local college. She and her husband also built a successful telecommunications business in Sydney with clients that included five major hospitals and two universities.

Back in Canada since 2001, the Dohertys have just completed their second building project in Kingston.
