Sanjeev Goel

Dr. Sanjeev Goel is Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Ontario as well as the nominated candidate in the riding of Brampton West. He has been practising family medicine at a multidisciplinary health clinic for the past 10 years. Born in Montreal, he moved to Mississauga at age 13, attended Erindale Secondary School and the University of Toronto, where he met his lifetime partner, Dr. Lopita Banerjee. In medical school, he was actively involved in international and native health and started the vegetarian society. Sanjeev received his residency training at McGill University. As a physician, he has been a doctor on a cruise ship, run a mobile health clinic in Nepal and completed training in mindfulness meditation and clinical acupuncture.
Sanjeev ran as a provincial Green Party candidate in 2003 and as a federal candidate in 2004. As Foreign Affairs Critic, he was one of many involved in the Green Party of Canada's journey from obscurity to full-fledged party status. He founded a non-profit organization called Truthforce, based on the principles of non-violence and truth espoused by Mahatma Gandhi, and is very active in his community. He sits on the board of the Brampton Downtown Development Corporation and is a member of the Brampton Board of Trade.
Sanjeev enjoys playing soccer with his son, watching Dora the Explorer with his daughter and reading books on political science and the SLOW movement. He is currently working on a medical podcast with his spouse.
