Description:
The GPO Media Relations Coordinator is a member of the Messaging Team and reports to the Coordinator of External Communications. This position supports the ability of the GPO to fulfill its strategy for traditional media. It involves work with the leadership team to ensure structures are in place for effective communication pieces and media relations.
Requirements:
• Recruits and trains members to liaise and build repore with the media
• Works with Press Secretaries, Leadership and Issue Advocates to distribute media releases and blogs
• Ability to distribute media releases and act as Press Secretary when required
• Advises the Messaging Team on communications strategy
• Supports the Director of Messaging and Leader as required
Skills:
• Commitment to the GPO’s 10 key values and key messages
• Excellent interpersonal and writing skills
• Excellent organizing and team building skills, volunteer management
• Knowledge and/or research of media relations
Time Commitment:
3 to 5 hours per week
Ability to attend Queen's Park occasional afternoons
