Issue Advocate Coordinator
Description:
The GPO Issue Advocate Coordinator is a member of the Messaging Team and reports to the Coordinator of External Communications. This position assists Issue Advocates in performing their duties. It includes training Issue Advocates; facilitating meetings and dialogue; liaising with Messaging Team on key outreach issues; facilitating policy outreach to organizations outside the party.
Requirements:
• Supports the Issue Advocates (IAs) in developing policy, monitoring their ministry and communicating to the public
• Trains IAs in media, legislative processes and liaises with the IA team
• Helps the Messaging Team determine policy priorities for the GPO
• Assists the Director of Messaging and Leader as required
Skills:
• Commitment to the GPO’s 10 key values
• Experience in the workings of the Ontario government and/or associations
• Excellent research, communications, and administrative skills
• Excellent organizing and team building skills, volunteer management
Time Commitment:
3 to 5 hours per week
4 to 6 conference calls and/or in person meetings per year, potential travel within Ontario
