JESSICA FRASER
Ph.D. Candidate (Theology), Saint Paul University, Ottawa
Jessica is in the final stages of a Ph.D. in Theology, in the area of environmental ethics. Her research focuses on the role of ecological literacy in individual behavioural change toward more ecologically sustainable lifestyles. In the course of her work, she has become aware of the limitations of individual change without engaged civic action. Her personal and professional commitments to the Green Party of Ontario (and Canada) reflect this awareness.
Jessica teaches and gives workshops on spirituality and ecology. Before her return to graduate school, Jessica worked as a counsellor in homeless women╒s shelters in Toronto and Ottawa.
Jessica currently resides in the riding of Lanark Frontenac Lennox and Addington (LFLA), where she was born and raised. She has a working knowledge of the political issues and concerns of the riding, as well as a broader sense of how eastern Ontario is situated vis-ê-vis the rest of the province.
Jessica has an excellent understanding of issues of ecology, social justice, poverty, and gender issues. She comprehends how these play out in the province of Ontario, as well as nationally. Jessica brings this understanding to her work within the Green Party of Ontario and Canada, as outlined below.
