12.06.2008 - 20:23
Patti Ellis brings with her to the Green Party open mindedness, a wide range of experience, and a strong determination to see members of the Green Party of Ontario at Queen's Park.
Born in Montreal, raised in Burlington, Ellis received an Honours Degree in History and English from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Education from University of Toronto, landing a full-time High School teaching position at a time when teaching jobs were extremely scarce.
Ellis spent one year in Fort Frances and thirteen years in Orillia, where she continued to add to her teaching credentials while sitting on boards and committees. She has been a member of the Cellar Singers choir, its executive and Board of Directors; a charter member of the Orillia Folk Society executive; and a long time member of The CNIB Simcoe-Muskoka District Board where she headed up numerous sub-committees, including fundraising, public awareness, communication, and nomination and recruitment. She also served a term as chair.
Following her marriage and relocation to the south end of Simcoe County, Ellis served until recently on the Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee whose mandate is to provide access to all community services for all persons regardless of a disability.
Presently, Ellis resides on a beautiful farm outside of Alliston with her husband Peter, their lively seven-year old daughter, Katelyn, and several assorted dogs and cats, where for the past five years, she has been pleased to co-host the GPO Annual Summer Summit.
