Jacques Malette

Malette was born in Mississauga in 1984 to Jacques and Cheryl Malette. He lived in Mississauga until he was fourteen. That is when his parents decided that a move down the 401 to Cambridge would be an interesting experience for the family. Due to the move, he had to go from attending a public school all my life to a catholic high school. He ended up attending St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School between grades 11 to OAC. It was after high school he got a job at Automation Tooling Systems as a general labourer. After a few months there, he was then offered a job at Spheral Solar Power (SSP) a subsidiary of Automation Tooling Systems. It was at SSP that he became interested in renewable energy and the environment. At SSP he worked my way from an operator to a technician. Unfortunately SSP closed after three years of his employment there. He was however lucky enough to be offered a position back at ATS. After a year of working at ATS in the warehouse, he was offered a position at Arise Technologies as a Laboratory Technician.

At Arise, he worked in the R&D lab trying to improve the purification process of silicon for the solar industry. He was lucky enough to have worked with many bright individuals who shared a common interest in the environment and in health. One day, he was talking politics and environment with some co-workers. It was them who suggested that if he cared so much about the environment, that he do something about it. That was the suggestion that made him think long and hard about the Green Party of Canada.

He stayed at Arise Technologies for almost 3 years before being offered a position at Canadian Solar. At Canadian Solar, he was a production supervisor for their module assembly lines on night shift. He is very new at this position and looks forward to the challenges it brings him. He always tried to stay somewhat active in the community, having volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters in Cambridge as well as Cambridge Youth Soccer. He's an avid camper and hiker.

When he is not out biking or jogging, he can be found in his garden or at the archery range.
