Ken Burns

Ken Burns is proud to be the Green Party Candidate for the riding of Brantford, Brant, and Six Nations. Ken is an entrepreneur and small business owner, who founded his solar business because he is convinced that Ontario can be a world leader in renewable energy, and in turn, create 21st century jobs in our communities. Furthermore, the microFIT program provides a direct financial benefit to homeowners, small businesses, and farmers in exchange for their investment in clean energy for Ontario.

Prior to working in renewable energy, Ken enjoyed a successful career in the arts for over 20 years. He has enjoyed working on productions such as Forever Plaid and Phantom of the Opera. Ken also enjoyed life on the other side of the curtain, advocating on behalf of artists in theatre, opera, and dance as the senior business representative of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association.

Ken is a firm believer in the power of direct human contact, teamwork, and community. Ken is a member of the Brantford/Brant Chamber of Commerce, Ontario Sustainable Energy Association, and the Canadian Solar Industries Association. In addition to being an active volunteer on previous political campaigns, Ken has also worked to organize the local chapter of Green Drinks, a non-political monthly networking event and informal discussion of all things green.

Although Ken has had a life-long passion for renewable energy and sustainable living, his passion for the Green Party is primarily inspired our priority to end the hyper-partisanship of Canadian politics. A good idea is a good idea, regardless of where it comes from. Further, Ken believes that voters should expect more from their candidates than the sound bite solutions which are so commonly offered in a world of political opportunism. It’s time for change in Ontario. It’s time for sensible, long term thinking and vision for Ontario beyond the four year horizon. It’s time to work together for Ontario’s future. It’s time: Vote Green.
